Katie and Zachary had the perfect location for they fun personalities to get married, Palmettos on the Bayou. It’s a location with a lot of character, and some wonderful areas for photos. The dock by the Bayou is excellent for portraits, and is where we did a first look for them to see each other before the ceremony. At night that is also a lovely location with the lights in the trees for a sweet photo. The ceremony is outside by a beautiful oak tree, and then the reception back on the covered deck, with easy access to the bar and food service areas. The ambiance is rustic and fun, with many areas to relax and an open feeling for the party. They took full advantage of the DJ to have a great party with their friends and family. The had all the extras, including a photobooth on the upper deck, and an artist who made a painting of the reception area while they partied. The finished the evening with a second line dance, and then exited the front of the building with a sparkler line to see them off. This was a wedding that perfectly matched the laid back and happy bride and groom, who are sure to have a wonderful life together if this evening is any indication of the rest of their journey together. Congratulations to the happy couple, may you always be as happy as you were on this night!

Pronouncement of marriage and first kiss

Brianne and Shane had their wedding ceremony at the lovely Mater Delarosa Church on Carrolton in New Orleans. It’s one of the grand old churches in the city, that has the grandeur of any. Before the ceremony, the bride took a photo at her family house with the limo previously owned by Lucille Ball. Then proceeded to the church where her happy groom awaited. After the ceremony, we headed to the Balcony Ballroom for the reception, which is always a fabulous location for a great party, which they had to full effect. The Balcony staff always does a fantastic job of making sure everything goes smoothly, and they have the nice touch of displaying the bride and groom’s name and wedding date on the wall above the cake. This makes for wonderful photo opportunities which I like to take full advantage of. There is also plenty of room there for very large attendance, as well as some great food service. I highly recommend the Bananas Foster for the food list to anyone who is planning an event there. After the first dance and parent dances, the party went in full swing and was finshed off with a second line parade to send off the bride and groom in their new life together. These are the traditions for our weddings here in New Orleans, and I see no reason to not follow them for any wedding. Our congratulations to Brianne and Shane for their wonderful New Orleans style wedding!

We did Raeven’s bridal portraits at Audubon Park in New Orleans, which turned out fabulous. She is such a bright and cheery girl, and had a great time taking her photos. The wedding at The Louisiana Castle in Franklinton, LA, was just beautiful. The bride and groom had a fantastic time with their family and friends in attendance. The day was gorgeous, and of course so was the bride. It was a picture perfect wedding!

The Balcony Ballroom in Metairie, LA, is one of the stalwart wedding venues in the New Orleans area. Though it’s been serving brides and grooms for generations, it’s continued to be updated and current in decor and service. I’ve never seen a wedding that didn’t go off fabulously there, and Shelby and Daniel’s wedding was no exception. We started off with photos at Shelby’s family home in Belle Chase, where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and family. It was a beautiful day the the window light allowed me to get some wonderful images of the beginning of her day. We then went on to St. Joseph Church in Gretna, where she met and married her handsome husband Daniel. It’s a grand old church, and made for a lovely ceremony. We then proceeded to the Balcony Ballroom to celebrate their union with much merriment. The topped off the festivities with a second line dance before beginning their new life together. All together, simply a perfect day for a fantastic couple!

As always at Southern Oaks Plantation, Emily and Paul had a wonderful wedding. It’s a perfect place for a fun loving couple as they are, and offers beautiful setting for an outdoor night time event. We had done Emily’s bridal portrait there a month before, and it was nice to get a chance to explore the grounds a little more than we are always able to on a wedding day. She is such a beautiful model, so it was a special photo shoot in all respects. The wedding went fabulous, and everyone had a fantastic time. The formula for a perfect wedding often starts and ends with Southern Oaks, what else is there to say?

It was a beautiful spring day for Kayla and Jordan’s wedding. The bride got ready at her parent’s house where the light coming through the windows made for some lovely photos. Lisa got photos of the groomsmen, and then the bride arriving at the church and some fun shots with her bridesmaids before the ceremony. The church is a newer one built next to the old St. Anselm with an open architecture that gives an expansive feel. It’s a splendid church for a wedding. The reception at the Beau Chene Country Club was filled with dancing and plenty of fun moments for the bride and groom with their friends and family.

We had a great time wandering around some of the less populated parts of the French Quarter when doing engagement photos for Brianne and Shane. The wedding is coming up in October, and judging from how fun they were with the portrait session, I’m sure the wedding will be a blast.

It’s been a busy year so far in 2016, we’ve been shooting lots of weddings this year and raising dogs (we are also hobby dog breeders). I’m trying to get back to posting some weddings that we enjoyed shooting and hopefully get the website caught up to some more recent ones. Dominica and Jordan got married last winter in November, 2015, with the ceremony at the St. Louis Cathedral in the heart of the French Quarter, with a second line to follow, and then back to the JW Marriot for the reception. The Cathedral is something of the center of the city in some ways. It’s of course the most commonly seen image of New Orleans, along with brass bands and the French Quarter. The church is magnificent, of course, and beautiful inside to match it’s stature. Their ceremony was very sweet, followed by some bridal party photos in Jackson Square, right outside the church. The second line band showed up, which was the Kinfolk brass band who are a very well known traditional style New Orleans jazz band. As we moved through the French Quarter streets, Jordan liked to stop and give his new bride a proper kiss and hug. They certainly were enjoying themselves. The reception featured some excellent food, as is always to be expected in New Orleans, and they carried on into the evening with family and friends.

The Chickory in New Orleans has become one of my favorite locations to shoot weddings at downtown. It’s conveniently located near several nice hotels, with easy access to the French Quarter. The historical building has a texture and architecture that is very appealing in the photos, and it seems the weddings there are always a lot of fun. Stephanie and Joseph’s wedding was no exception. We started off with a few photos of the bride as she was getting ready, then she met the groom on the porch outside for a first look. It was a lovely moment for the two of them, and I could tell right away they were going to be loads of fun. We took some photos before the ceremony with the bridal party and family. The room for the ceremony was wonderfully decorated, with drapery, candles and a lovely chandelier. After the ceremony, their reception was all that I anticipated, with a lot of fun had by everyone. The photos really show how great a time everyone had, and I’m sure the bride and groom will never forget their special evening in the great city of New Orleans.

Tiffanie called me one day around Christmas of 2014 to see if I could do an engagement portrait for her. I asked when and she said, “today?”. Well, long story short, we did the engagement portraits while they were in town from Texas, and they loved them. A few months later they booked me to photograph their wedding in July.

Tiffanie and Michael were a lot of fun to photograph. I met her at the Hilton Garden Inn to get some photos before the ceremony, then met Michael at the church for a few photos. Following the ceremony, we proceeded to the Lakehouse restaurant on the Lakefront of Mandeville. As soon as they had their first dance, I noticed the sunset was quite stunning, and we ran out to get a few extra photos before it got dark. They had a fabulous reception, lots of dancing and having fun with their friends, which made for some really animated photos. This was just the kind of wedding that I’m sure every bride and groom hopes to have. A joy for them and their families, and an opportunity for me to get lot’s of wonderful photos which they will enjoy for many years to come.
